RIVER FALLS - UW-River Falls will host its annual show pig auction at noon Saturday, April 4, at the Mann Valley Laboratory Farm Pavilion. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. About 150 of the university's best show pigs will be available for sale.
This year's lineup has been artificially bred to top boars from Shaffer's Goldrush of Indiana. Boars selected for this year's matings include Kodiak, Payload, Show Stopper, 3D, V8, Midnite Express, Show Monkey, Sun Tea and One Ton. The sale is organized by Steven Hubly of Clarks Grove, Minn., student swine manager and sale chairman. Student farm employees and campus organizations will be part of the sale staff. Auction services will be provided by Bob Johnson of Milton. A new sow gestation hoop barn will be the next addition to the Lab Farm. Construction is expected to start this summer. The Lab Farm is two miles west of River Falls on county Highway MM and a quarter-mile north on Glover Road. For more information, call Hubly at 715-821-7094. |
