Neillsville WI Ayrshire sale averages $1,510

NEILLSVILLE - Forty-seven females sold for an average of $1,510 April 11 at the Wisconsin Ayrshire Spring Sale in Neillsville.

Moy-Ayr BBK Leah-ET topped the sale at $3,700. The fresh junior 3-year-old cow was consigned by Moy-Ayr Farms of Whitewater and purchased by Colby O'Malley of Gilman.

The second high seller was a senior 2-year-old due to calve in July and consigned by Terry Bonney of Thorp. TMB Baltimore Storm Cloud was purchased for $2,650 by Garrett Holewinski of Pulaski.

Other top consignments included Grand-View Festival Zulu-17, a fresh 2-year-old consigned by Steve and Pauline Schmidt of Whitewater. She sold for $2,300.

The high-selling heifer was a September calf consigned by Mina Gumieny of Red Rock Ayrshires of Edgar. Red Rock Pardner Sahara was purchased for $1,950 by Marissa Mahr of Stanley.

Sale averages were $908 for 10 spring calves; $1,267 for 10 winter calves; $1,495 for five fall calves; $1,275 for two summer yearlings; $1,450 for three spring and winter yearlings; $2,158 for six springing heifers; $1,995 for 11 cows; $28.60 for 175 units of semen; $900 for two bulls and $351 for 23 embryos.
