Mastering the Antique and Contemporary Fine Art Auction PDF Print E-mail

Fine Art and Collectible Art AuctionsAlthough they are not extremely prevalent throughout Wisconsin, art auctions are definitely worth considering if you are looking to furnish your home with fine, sophisticated art or to make an investment that rarely loses it's value.  Art auctions are likely the highest profile auction there is. Even in a down economy, art prices are soaring to unseen levels (often noted on the nightly news)...but these "high-profile" auctions are not the only art auctions taking place.  In fact, there is art up for auction right here in Wisconsin (that won't break the bank).

Hay Auctions for Horses and Livestock PDF Print E-mail
Hay auctions are a great way to get good hay for your livestock at a great price...but it's not an easy job (and a dirty one at that).  The best thing you can do is to open the bail up (yep, with your hands) and inspect the hay for mold.  It's also important to inspect the moisture content of the bales as this too is a good indicator regarding how long it will be before the hay begins to mold.

So, why all the concern about mold in your livestock's hay?  Moldy hay can lead to a cough, an "upper airway irritation", and ultimately the avoidance of feed and problems with colic or abort.

So, when you're at the auction, don't be shy to shove your hand in the hay...if the hay feels warm or hot, this is a sign that the hay was baled when it was still wet.  Not good.

Some phrases commonly heard by auctioneers in regards to real-estate auction buying are "Is this really what I want to do?" "I've never done this before" and "Are we going to save money or lose money by purchasing through a real-estate auction?". Buying Coins at Auction PDF Print E-mail

By looking through the Wisconsin Auction listings, one begins to notice that there is a huge trend present, and that deals with the auction of coins. There are several reasons why nusmatists collect coins, and also several reasons why auctions are the very best place to purchase them for collection.

Some collect coins because the specific coins they collect are extremely rare. Some collect coins with the though in mind that the coins may not be worth much now, but someday will increase in value and popularity. Some numismatists collect coins simply because of the sure pleasure of having a hobby that is easy to do. What is the best way to start your adventure in numismatism? Study, of course! Learn as much as you can about the trade, and talk to other local nusmatists (there are many throughout the state of Wisconsin). There are also many books and websites (like this one) on the subject as well. These resources will give you a better idea as to what it's all about, and most collectors are happy to share knowledge with newbies.

Wisconsin Auto Auctions PDF Print E-mail

Everyone wants to get a good deal on their next vehicle (who wouldn't...right?). When buying a vehicle from a dealer, the least you'll pay for a vehicle is the dealer's wholesale price (unless he's flipped his lid of course!). How do many of the used car dealers get their vehicles? They buy them from auctions. This article is about the auto auctions that the general public are allowed to participate in. For someone living in Wisconsin, there are three common types of Auto Auctions that the public is typically allowed to participate in.

The first of three that I'll mention is the 'online auto auction'. Two examples are eBay Motors and Yahoo Auctions. There are many aspects of online auctions that are very similar to auctions that occur in public. The people involve bid on a specific vehicle, and when a time limit expires, the top bidder takes the vehicle.
